All posters with numerals at the end of their name are in a small tent at a KY festival in Gore.
They real question is, why are you not there!

nightboss, Mar 29, 10:06am
He has been at "banned camp" for two weeks now.
Depending on how many visits to banned camp splinter has had will determine when or if he returns.

Here is a hint at who he clashed with to get there

Who cares.

nightboss, Mar 29, 10:33am
A simple question bellky.
With the ability to post questions and answers without the threads degenerating into petty squables, have the last two weeks been the way the motoring (and other) boards should be. YES or NO

bellky, Mar 29, 10:37am
Yes to your question nightboss, however that's not the thread question :)

therafter1, Mar 29, 10:41am
I suspect that nightwatch is simply being a little cautious as the parrot is quite probably watching with his mouse pointer hovering over the complaint submit button (where ever it is and if there is such a thing) lol

therafter1, Mar 29, 10:43am
Ooooooops, yep, there is such a thing, it is right at the bottom of the page, where it belongs, off the page would be better tho lol

nightboss, Mar 29, 10:48am
Cheers for the straight answer bellky.

Any answer to the thread question other than "banned camp" could be interpreted as giving out personal details.

What I have observed here and in TM Discussion is a huge reduction in both OT threads and troll-baiting over the last two weeks. Many first time help-seekers have got what they need and will return, something that the previous atmosphere stifled. I hope others that have enjoy the current harmony will do what is necessary to maintain it once banned members return.

nightboss, Mar 29, 10:52am
Communication I have seen from others that are in direct contact with TM, shows that TM are making changes to policy, specifically in the area of trolling and harassment, and this will be advised to us all very soon.

nightboss, Mar 29, 11:01am
DO NOT NAMECALL - nah just kidding, all ok.

If someone who is banned is waiting for opportunities to hit the "report it here" link good luck to him/her.

That is a right that can and should be used when appropriate, the moderators are here to respond to what we alert them to, they do not read every word posted in every thread.

therafter1, Mar 29, 11:07am
Hopefully for the better. The present situation is a nightmare and you have to tread very very carefully. It presently appears that if you so much as accidently put a little pressure onto some touchy feely types little toe they are slamming the complaint button, lashing out on 0900 calls and all sorts of other half witted childish carry on in order to have you suppressed in some way either thru warnings or banning's and it is just horse manure.

Where I come from if you can't stand the heat you stay away from the fire.

If people are defaming / slandering / threatening or other such behaviour then yes, but if it is merely being pointed out that you are an idiot, or are wrong or whatever, then tough titties as that is something for the poster concerned to consider before they submit their post. Having the fact that you are an idiot or don't know what you are talking about pointed out to you hurts, as it should, and in the process normal people are usually learning something aren't they, and from that point onwards they either desist from submitting idiot / incorrect posts and do your home work first and hopefully you will be right.

Parroting isn't being right, and has a tendency to make parrots look like idiots !

edangus, Mar 29, 11:11am
It has gone back to the old motoring boards of late. Thankfully.
Hopefully those that are so easily offended never return. Not to mention the little tattle tailers. Then again the whole MB has been a bit too snarky for the last year or so. To many Haters.
Anyway, lets hope it stays that way. It always used to be a damn good place for assistance, opinions and experience.

therafter1, Mar 29, 11:39am
Crikey, for the time that I have been frequenting these boards if I was given ten bucks for every time that I was corrected, wrong, partially correct, on the wrong track, misinterpreted a post and responded accordingly, called an idiot or a dick head or a hair splitter or whatever then I would be a wealthy man !

Just put your ten cents worth in and take a punt, if you are wrong and corrected, then you have learned something. If you believe that you are right, then attempt to prove that you are right, just bear in mind that you may quite well still be wrong and will probably dig yourself a dirty big hole in the process . sometimes that's just life lol

therafter1, Mar 29, 11:47am
I feel that the edit thing should be dumped other than if you make a colossal screw up with your header (which you presently can't edit), as a certain poster was abusing the edit function fiercely when it would submit a entirely erroneous post on the basis of the first post or two in the thread, it appeared that the culprit would then read the balance of the thread and see that the subject had already been reasonably well canvassed and the submitted post was on the minority (read incorrect) side of the ledger. The culprit would then edit the post and spend the rest of its time in the thread attempting to defend the previous content of the edited post claiming that it was never there . weird !

If you make an error in a post it isn't hard to say sorry, that isn't what I intended to say, and clarify from there, as opposed to altering a post entirely with an edit.

edangus, Mar 29, 11:52am
Couldn't agree more.

Once upon a time . we could .
Swear in hushed tones
Call each other childish names
Post all sorts of links to oddball alternative interpretations of whats just been said or named.
& all manner of other fun stuff that was.well simply >>>> FUN

Then the narks turned up with their PC attitudes & taking of rules to a new pedantic level.

Prozac anyone ! ;-)

nightboss, Mar 29, 3:00pm
I got banned earlier this year for writing the name my parents gave me many decades ago. Yes I did write it 60 times in a row, yes I did also signed off with a made up name (aren't almost all our user names also made up names!).

For that I was sent to "banned camp".

What has been set in motion is that TM moderators will look at more than just the single posting being reported. It has been too easy for pedantic individuals to entrap their targets into placing one toe over the line and snap.

Happy Easter to all - Cheers - JOHN.

I'm slightly amazed that this thread is still active.
Someone is still alive and kicking.

therafter1, Mar 29, 3:29pm
Good link Boss, can I call you Boss lol

Very true, and it will never cease, moderators or no moderators. You take what you get, and you can bet it will be a cross section of responses, especially if it was a stupid question in the first place, and in reality stupid questions only really deserve stupid answers. 9 times out of 10 the answer to your stupid question is somewhere out there anyway, if you are the super sensitive type why not search it and let others take the flack for you as usually the answer you are looking for will be there somewhere.

As stated previously, as long as its not slanderous, defamatory, threatening and so on then what's the problem. If you can't stand the heat, stay away from the fire . ooooooow no no no, that's too easy, it seems that some would prefer to stand in front of the fire and then expect someone to shield them from the heat . weird !

mrfxit, Mar 29, 6:52pm
LOL brilliant clip, perfect for them

neville48, Mar 29, 7:12pm
Has johnf 2 4 6 8 or whatever gone too !

jmma, Mar 29, 7:16pm
Did you not notice, no "This message has been deleted" posts of late, no bannings. This is a much better place for it. I hope TM are taking notice of this and make the ban permanent.

neville48, Mar 29, 7:27pm
I miss him already pffffft.Yea Right.
