Was on the cards from day one, FORD fans only follow FORDs They forgot who half there fan base was. Myself and most of my FORD fan mates never went to any of there meetings , only ever attened NZv8s where FORDs were being run. So lets hope there DEATH is Quick and $ painful .Myself and my motorsport mates are all in our 60s and have been following motorsport in NZ for over 45 years. Now about sang wrong racing utes #@&*$^what the HELL is going on with this cwapp.

Are you referring to the thing about having all same chassis with plastic bodies on top? In which case, I agree. Stupid. I believe they are planning changes to open it up 2 doors and other engines etc to create a more international field. Guess that means ford will use a mustang? I love having a field of different cars, sizes, engine types, even drive end. Seeing the golf gti beat the chargers at puke was cherished memory. And I loved it when Godzilla won Bathurst! Did you see the 12 hour endurance race just run at Bathurst? That was great. After 12 hours there was less than seconds between Godzilla, Audi r8, Aston, merc, and Bentley and result came down to the wire. That's racing.

they are all about making the field even, but only half it is the drivers, I reckon half the excitement is supporting a team or brand when they have to innovate to be competitive, and when they are racing their own grown projects. If they went like group A I would take far more interest, have restrictions to keep the cost down, for example horsepower limits, but otherwise fairly open I think manufacturers would support it more, engineers would thrive and the racing would become far more enjoyable to watch and follow.
Sure there would be times where someone comes out with a killer car, think of the years at bathurst where particular cars dominated for years, but isn't that what makes it exciting? The thrill of excelling.
Bathurst 12hr: unfortunately I didnt watch it, but when I heard that Nissan won with the GTR I was stoked, if they just said that Joe bloggs won in their identical space frame car then I couldn't give a toss about it unless I had some kind of personal connection with that racer.

Sad in some respects but agree with #2. I wouldn't cross the road to watch Super Tourers any more than I would to watch any other so called control series. Racing should be about different cars and drivers, not just drivers - who we can't see anyway.
Remember it came about because of the need for a top level saloon series in NZ, but alienating the Ford fans seemed to be a dumb move.
The old Bathursts and Wellington Street races were compulsive viewing for any petrolhead. Even Aussie V8's Bathhurst is now a case of 'record and fast-forward'.
See if Bathurst 12 hr endurance is on you tube or something. I let it run all day and came back and forth and even worked in garage with it playing on iPad so I could here. The last hour is fantastic racing, some of best I've ever seen. No one knew who the heck would win and it was so damn close it was thrilling. And these are race versions of real cars. Wonderful, will watch rest if series now though I think the Aus one was a bit of a mongrel and not part of main championship.

Yep,i'm a Ford man and all my fellow Ford brothers and sisters thought right from the start that this class was doomed from the start.Come on supertourers did you really think we would accept having a Ford looking body with a chev ls7 engine pulling us along, absolute joke, even when a Ford won it was impossible to justify it.Wrong wrong wrong! .

so when they started and holden got behind it and gave/made bodywork for them for free while ford said nah dont want any part of it. that must be the organisers fault.
Even superblack racing got rejected from ford nz, they are only sponsored by a single franchise dealer.
hope ford nz fans like rugby, cricket, hockey and ocean swiming as this is what ford sponsor.
then again holden sponsors netball and golf.

After the crash at HD, there was more people on the commentary team than drivers on the track. i actually like a series with very similar cars,, comes down to driver skill/car set-up, not the biggest budget, dont' care about badges just want doorhandle to doorhandle and lots of broken mirrors.

I'm the opposite! I want to see totally clean racing by different makes and models of car and where the engineers can develop the car instead of people moaning about someone who shaved 1mm off a minor component or everyone has to use the same supplier for everything.
The only rules you require for great cars are a capacity limit, a rpm limit and the number of gears. All easily checked. Racing cars, even race saloons should look like racers and not be part of a one make advertising budget or a set of rules so tight that no-ne can move, or so convoluted that they are impossible to enforce anyway.
There will always be those with bigger budgets but let's see the back yard garagistes out there blowing the big budget guys into the weeds. Then we'll have racing.

Got to admit the Touring Car Masters VS Central Muscle Cars at Highlands Park was fantastic,, although a wee bit biased to the Kiwi cars! biggest money gets the biggest trophy tho.

With a GM under the hood why would Ford want anything to do with it. They should have made them all Holden and called it Super Holden International Tourer Series . Get down to Pukekohe and watch the SHITS.

Also they said kiwis wanted to watch modern cars that resembled the production models, plus they got factory support . Funny i dont remember any questionares being given out to race goers . F500 ,muscle cars & GT is what is attracting the crowds . Look at Tony Quins operation he got bang on .

LOL Yes, kcf, we understand.
I'll be at Puke for the weekend. Involved but not racing and hopefully time to take pics of different cars!
Just to correct twink's comment. HD is closed for the two weeks over Christmas but is generally booked for 340+ days a year. There are also twilight sessions for public use.

I stand corrected, not because of lack of bookings, more for maintenance
