AA recompliance

Hi everyone!

Im looking at buying a new car. It previously had a smash up at the back, but has been fixed and gone through recompliance with AA. I tried to book a preinspection for tomorrow, but loads of them a booked.

My question is, if its been through recompliance a week a go, will I be ok not getting the pre inspection?

thanks

Was that enough no's?
Ok for a starter- i'll put this in simple terms--Compliance promises that the car is safe to be on the road BUT doesn't promise that the engine won't blow up,ac die, power steering stop working etc.
But even more important you need to be sure theres no long term affects from the shunt.
So book a decent PP inspection preferably by a garage specialising in your make and model

An AA pre purchase inspection doesnt do any of that either, but you will know if the washer is low on fluid

Ah ok thanks everyone :)

It's a Mazda Familia 2001. I might ring around tomorrow and see if I can find anyone that can check it.

Is there a BIG price advantage over one that hasn't been in a big smash?

Can't have been much of a smash to repair a 14 yr old car, repairs would eclipse value pretty quickly

Practicing for when the little one grows up and want to bring the boyfriend home aye! (o:

Why would anyone go to the bother of repairing and then recomplying a 14 year old run of the mill Mazda? The maths just wouldn't work out no matter how one was to calculate it.

Kaz, was there supposed to be a mystery ON in there we had to find?

My 14 year old Nissan Maxima is worth around $3500 on TM. If you think about the costs of repairing the damage to the OP's car, plus recompliance etc etc etc etc etc, it is hard to see how that can be done professionally and still leave room for a $ in the sale price for the seller. Either overpriced or shody repair would be my expectation. Buyer after a few weeks likely to be going, Oh No, Oh No, Oh No, Oh No,. and then "I wonder if I can trade this in with an unsuspecting dealer for close to what I paid for it and get a nice one lady owner second hand ex Singapore import Peugeot 307?"
