Monster Tajima footage

Somebody has uploaded footage of the Tajima accident.

Did he actually go off the road? Looks like half the body work went airborne but the vehicle looks like it stays on the road.

Edit 1: According to the stuff article and pictures he probably did go off, but sure looks weird in this footage.

Edit 2: Looking at the footage closely you can just make out that he runs off just before the corner after the shell has come away.

Well, if half your bodywork is gone, half your down force is also gone. Must have lost control after the initial loss of traction.

Ah much clearer.

Stuff report it as losing control in corner, but clearly not right. As you say bodywork came off then he lost control.
Glad he's okay. He's a bloddy legend that mad man.

Monster is likely to be back with the electric Pikes Peak e-runner.
Probably one of the earlier versions of this with an upgrade.

lucky man, got away with that car failure . Pikes peak may have been a different story.

Wish he'd stop rebranding his car. That "Toyota 86" probably has most of the "Suzuki SX4" in it.

So, what caused the body work to disintegrate, which of course lead to the crash.
