No wof infringment notice at 3 am in the morning

farwest, May 28, 4:48pm
Just make sure it has registration and WOF.

kazbanz, May 28, 4:50pm
of course you can --if its legal.
sorry Im honestly struggling to understand why anyone has an issue with this.
a car on the road has to have a WOF. its simple.
If people don't like the law then change the law.

Its the same as t has been for ages all over the country, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - If the vehcle does not have a current wof correctly displayed, it is not ( apart from specific special circumstances) legally allowed on the road.

See the traffic regs for the definton of a 'road'

getting a ticket a three in morning does seem odd !
diligent fellow ,id hirer him does is job !
hey if no wof u are eligible for said ticket !
when I was a young fella I thought parkin warden only worked 8-4 hours so was free for all around those hours . got the odd clamp in tow lol so now just get sticker is just easier !

gmphil, May 28, 5:00pm
after 7 days parked in same spot un moved council will apply abandonment sticker in tow short after that .so parking on road while not going waiting repair could present more problems !

From my experience - it was not unusual to arrange for a parking warden to be asked to attend to a specific situation when required. The Warden has a warrant to issue tickets that ordinary Council field staff do not.

There have been situations where discussion with owners has not been effective, and in the end an enforcement of some sort is required.

The person receiving the ticket has the option of taking it up the local parking enforcement manager, but given that the background to the situation has been documented by the council staff member handling the problem, the ticket inevitably stands,

i am always scared to get a ticket for not display of current registration as i take the lable in to the post shop or AA to have the details to fill in correct details , as you know aperantly they can give you a ticket for that, by whos law i dont know but they seem to be able to make up rules and regulations how ever they feel like , what ever makes some extra money.
I wonder why they dont employ blind wardens because then every car would get a ticket because he can claim he cant read it and issue a fine for both no display of wof and registration. Thats all ok to most of you here it seems.
i got loads more ideas how to make more money when you come back and get angry you get a fine of 150$ for getting angry in a public place. and then when you hyper ventilate from the anger another fine for consuming to much oxigen 150$. i got loads more ideas on how to make more money with fines and new rules.

That's what I thought too,of parking warden hours, till I saw one walking down our street at 11pmish checking cars.Thought it was someone up to no good but it was definitely a warden in uniform!
Which explains why my sister got a ticket for parking on the grass overnight with no wof lol.

now i got stopped last xmas in taumarunui by a police checkpoint the seemed to have done booze test but had a quick look at rego and roaduser charges and asked me what the milage was , then he said i was overdue , i said it cant be i just purchased 5000km he replyed i should check it and i was not over by much and that i possibly put the new ruc lable under the one that was still on display. and sent me on my way. That is what you expect to happen from police with common sense, they do exist in nz, I stopped up the road and sure enough it was out. i found out why i purchased registration and miles the same time and the post shop folded the 2 lables and my father had inserted the registration not realised the roaduser was on the back and suposedly goes in to the other pouch. i am just glad i was told by some police with common sense befor i got a ticket by some money hungry gungsters .

Well if you try this in london or Europe they will tow your car straight away. You guys have it easy here, way more rules over there. If ya can't hack the pace here then you are lost.

cmscott111, May 28, 7:54pm
So parking tickets can only be issued during daylight hours ? Is this what a lot of you are suggesting ? What a joke ! Register and warrant your car its really not that hard ! And if it does go over by a day or so and you get a ticket you just have to write in and it gets wiped ! Worked for me anyway !

Bang on, imagine how many of these moaners would cope in Britain where they will turn you into a pedestrian if you get caught without vehicle insurance too. ???

tintop, May 28, 9:19pm
Yes, that was pretty much the way it went where I was. But if it went in tandem with some form of arrogant behaviour like parking bllocking a footpath or parking on the wrong sude of the road - no let off.

rabbitt1000, May 28, 9:45pm
Not so long ago, maybee a year or so back. headlines were made when it was disclosed that a large number of official Police vehicles were found to be operating on our roads and highways without current registration or WOF documentation being in order. so when i get checked /pulled over by any authority now. i check there lables.
Funnily enough. theres still Police vehicles out there. not legal

richardmayes, May 29, 5:39am
The law says your motor vehicle must have a current rego to be on public roads. That's pretty easy to understand, right?

It's bizarre that a ticket was written at 3am, but it's not wrong.

Many decades ago when living in a flat with no off street parking I did up a landrover , took donk out & reconned it & front drive train . Council kept putting notices on it saying it would be towed away as WOF & Reg expired . I politely told them to have sex & travel ,as they allowed the property owner to subdived his place , live in house & 2 flats behind with no driveway . never got towed .
