Some names remembered, some never heard of.

Oh such a long long trip from Fort Caughtly to Waiouru loaded with beer and towing a generator behind.

Thanks Intrade, only 1-truck took my interest more than the rest, was the LP Series Mercedes Benz (orange truck @ 1.00 min)

Drove and worked on some of those in the video, mainly from the '50's and '60's. Back then I'd much rather drive an old Leyland or Albion with the gearlever coming out of the floor behind you or a twin stick than the fancy new Roadranger at the time. Much more fun making all those shifts with 2 gearlevers than an airshift knob.

Talked to the owner of that truck. Its powered by a 5lt injected Holden motor.

I remember those grinding up Traffords Hill at the eastern end of the Waioeka Gorge on the run from the end of the rail at Taneatua to Gisborne. Maybe a couple of gears down still to spare, with the driver left hand on the steering, left foot on the gas, the rest of his body hanging as far out of the door as he could get to cool down :)

Haven't yet seen the video, but always liked the look of a Pegaso!

There were rows and rows of ex army GMC's and such at Seaview (Petone) in the early 50's. Lots on the road too doing general local goods stuff, logging, farm trucks, construction companies.
