End of Life Vehicles

I've been watching an end of life vehicle at Turners for the last 3 months. Generally every time it comes up the highest bid is less than the week before - latest bid was $1300.

Vendor is "in trade".

Both WOF and License have expired about 7 months ago. I've seen the vehicle and it will need some work to get a WOF.

Its now been switched from the "end of life" auctions to the "ordinary" auctions. I'm picking this is an effort to get a better offer.

I'm thinking that switching it now has opened a huge can of worms for the vendor as it's implying that the vehicle is now in good reasonable condition and that a purchaser should be able to expect full CGA cover.

Interested in dealers opinions.

If you are shopping for a car at Turners auctions be prepared to get a car that is well below its description . Turners are masters at selling rooted cars to innocent victims . They are above NZ Law and you the buyer will have no rights when things go wrong .
Turners are well known acrossthe automotive industry as generally dishonest arseholes , thieves or scumbags .

supernova--turners will sell it--the buyer will get upset. Turners will say--"no no not I mister"--- and point the buyer straight to the dealer who owns the vehicle.
You can guess where the buck will stop

Just remember, if they auction a car and have an asking bid of say, $1000 and three people put their hands up at the same time, they will count them all as three separate bids and go $1000, $1200, $1400, full well knowing everyone was only bidding $1000.

Yep I know that. I was trying to ask if by shifting it from the "junk' category to the "good" was likely to give the dealer more grief should any buyer want to get something fixed later.

I'm thinking that if it went to the DT as being bought as a "junker" the buyer might have a bit of an uphill battle trying to argue that condition etc wasn't acceptable etc but now its in a "good" auction the buyer would possibly have far less of a battle on his/her hands.

Incidentally whats the go with a vendor "in trade" selling without a WOF these days - especially when it is obviously not roadworthy?

Yeah right! That's why dealers buy and sell from Turners I guess!

TBH I've never seen a misdescribed vehicle at Turners. The vehicle make/model I am talking about in this thread has a retail of about $8 - 10,000 so obviously if it sells for $1300 no body with any sort of functioning brain cell would expect it to be pristine!

End of Life are clearly (normally) listed and auctioned at DVA. Anyone who buys from the DVA auction surely expects a steaming heap of excrement.

As is where is doesn't apply to any dealer sale. However if clearly sold as parts/for dismantling purposes with all reasons the vehicle isn't roadworthy has a degree of protection.-You cant do CGA claim for a stated fault/issue

bro you clearly underestimate the crookedness of the general public

supernova2, Mar 4, 5:33pm
I'm not that crooked. Err well um err! Hehehehe.
Anyway its Joe Public that's the problem and fortunately my names not Joe or for that matter anything else beginning with J.

I think they are quite dodgy. I was looking at a car listed by Turners, on here. Checked out the "mechanical report" and it was f--ked. They wanted $8k for it and the repairs would be in upwards of $2k at least. I went and bought the same car from a private seller for $4.8K and only needs minor work. Turners are dodgy.

supernova2, Mar 4, 6:18pm
You say Turners "wanted". Was that a buy now or simply a suggested auction price? I have no association with Turners but just interested how you come to the conclusion that Turners are dodgy. You might as well say the Herald is dodgy because they run adds from car dealers. Maybe TM is super dodgy as they allow the public to sell things often with totally incorrect statements.

Bro , you clearly under estimate the crookedness of Turners !

Turners were always going to be put in a difficult position with these CGA amendments, its a problem when your company can't decide whether they are an auction house selling on behalf of third parties or a retail car dealership, all they've done is muddy the waters for themselves and their customers.
