Extending a classified?

rusty_thomson, Feb 18, 6:32pm
Hi, I'm trying to sell my motorbike and the auction finishes in approx 4 hours. I've tried clicking on the link to extend the classified and it keeps saying you can only do it within 3 days of the auction ending (which it is). Has anyone had this issue and know how to fix it? I have messaged trade me but they probably won't get back to me until its too late? Any ideas?

I understood extending your listing means renewing it after it closes if it doesn't sale. In trademe world I don't think it means stretching your listing out longer.
Yours is a classified not auction so once it expires they will ask you if you want to renew it.

Please read the thread correctly, CLASSIFIED!

Please read my comment again, I had already edited it, in fact I did so immediately so you must have been quick!
And, poster does say auction himself at one point which is what threw me initially.
I did read listing, thank you.

For what's it's worth rusty you might want to look at best prices on tm for these bikes, and even check expired listings for ones actually sold to check what real selling price is. The 250 lost a lot of appeal and market when they changed the LANs rules allowing bikes up to 600, so suddenly lots of potential 250 buyers were lost overnight.
Hope that's helpful, not wanting to be rude.m

Seems like a fair starting price for that bike.

I got $3000 for my super tidy 25 year old GSF250, despite the knockers saying it was a $1800 bike.

Sorry rusty I took a look at your CLASSIFIED listing and I genuinely don't see what your problem is.
When the classified runs out you hit the relist button --bingo its back up.

Completely agree, but the problem is the owners are still wanting moonbeams IMHO, instead of meeting the market.

2008 250 Ninja's are a good example. I've seen a couple of auctions where the owner was realistic and sold their bikes - both for around $3500. But there is still a truck load of them listed way higher, and with lots more km's on them.

And they list them again and again.
