Roll cage footing plates

People who are familiar with MSNZ requirements, I know I should ring them but is 9pm. when making a footing plate that covers a vertical section too, do I have to make the overall plate area larger so that the horizontal section is 120cm^2?

A box is another way which Ill consider too. What are your thoughts on this? Please only if you have experience in this department!

Did you check the PDFs? They used to be online when I was racing, but if the exact subject isn't covered you'll just have to wait to phone Julian (or whomever it is now) tomorrow.

No the requirement is just for total area not in any particular plane.

Obviously if you count the vertical in the 120 SQs you will still have to add a bit to the floor section to weld your roll bar to, I used 120sqcm as the minimum.

I got the official word from MSNZ, they said its not well worded. The min area is 120cm^2, and part of that area must be on the horizontal plane. It cannot all be on the side of a sill panel for example.
