Guy already serving life for a brutal murder (of a child), has a pop at someone else in prison and gets a CONCURRENT sentence.
Does that mean if we get pinged for a motoring offence and get points on the licence, that any other offences committed that also attract points, can be concurrent? If not, why not? Or are motorists more evil than killers?

Think in NZ a life sentence is 10 years? Bought down to 3 months for good behavior no doubt. That way scum can reoffend and keep the corrupt lawyers etc rolling in money constantly representing them. How about the poor old 85 yo old down south bashed in his own home? if they find the butt plugs that did this they will probably get 20 hours community service and an anger management course.

Exactly! Different set of rules. The killer had got 14 years and has copped another 7, but wait a minute, he hasn't copped anything.
As an ex UK Prison Officer for over six years, the maximum sentence for someone already doing life was then '15 days bread and water', meaning the life of a Prison officer was worth just 9lbs of bread, instead of normal food. (Three days on, 3 days off etc.) Even that has been abolished by the do-gooders.
Motorist can lose his/her job and income for racking up a few too many penalty points, just for exceeding the (arbitrary) speed limit of 100kph, yet without being involved in an accident. An attempted murder for a lifer (sic) gets what exactly? Zip. Why not a consecutive sentence for goodness sake?

A life sentence in NZ is a life sentence, but it usually has a minimum custodial period and this is what most people focus on as being the full sentence. It's not.
