Legnum VR4 Clock Spring

The airbag light on my Legnum just made itself known so I took it down to a dealer for an $80 spin on a proprietary scanner. Came back Code 22 for a clock spring. I'm not really in favour of paying 1/3rd the car's value as quoted for them to do it, so I'd like to swap it for one out of a wrecked Legnum (not crashed, just one of the thousands of blown engine ones). Couple of questions - 1. Is this likely to be a model-interchangeable part (e.g. Galant, Legnum ST25, 1996-2002) and 2. Any pitfalls to avoid (especially ones that would quite literally blow up in my face)?

Take it out and take to a wreckers match it up. Only pitfall is to make sure you mark steering wheel wheels straight ahead and Centre the clock spring before installing it

There'll probably be a number on here who are totally confused now.

I'll make it worse by suggesting that OP won't have the time.
Do what bigmat sez - not too silly to disconnect the battery while having a tutu. Done plenty of airbag removal & replacement, and then remembered to disconnect the erges after it was all done! But better off not to be as dumb.
