It appears NIMU became AA Mutual Insurance in 1972 from what I can tell from the listing below.

AMI was the South Island Motor Union (SIMU).

I wonder what happened to AA Mutual Insurance, is it the same thing as AA Insurance, or did it merge with AMI?

Quite right about the Mobil stations Corky, owned by a true gentleman Des Logan, the beige truck which I have always thought to be a Commer was owned by a local builder whose name escapes me at the moment. The Bedford is almost certainly Fred Mings who had a Greengrocers on the corner of the street he is coming out from and for another piece of useless info totally unrelated to OP, Freds daughter Jodi is married to Simon Barnett.
