I have a need for 2.2m of this hard to find RHS size. None of the NZ steel suppliers stock this size as far as I can find. It is to make two spare parts the same as the ones in use, the parts in use were fabricated in England when the plant was new.
Anyone know if they have any ends on the steel rack in the shed, workshop, or hidden away that could help me out.
Of course I would expect any exchange to include a cut for TradeMe (in the form of a listing) so they get appropriate credit for facilitating this.

I have a reliable contact. I will ask. Not around the home email machine much, so give me a couple of days.
Can it be heavier walled or must it be 2.5mm?

Heavier is fine, the important size is 40mm x 50mm. Thanks.

Cool. Just to clarify, is that OD or ID?

you could make a piece by cutting 10 mm out of a piece of 50 x 50 and welding it back together the stuff you have could be an imperial size if made in England.

Possible, but a big task to keep straight on pieces 650mm long. (That is 65cm for all you "dressmakers" lol)

Or 25" for old schoolers

Nightboss. I haven't seen 2'x1-3/4x1/8 or 50x40x3 for many years I think you will need to bite the bullet and buy 50x50 and have one edge machined down. What size is critical ID or OD. If its ID maybe a couple of packers

You could use 40x40 and tack a piece of 40x10 along one side.

Hi nightboss. Had an ask around and it seems that size is just not available. It would have been 1 and 3/4" by 2" Suggestions were pretty much as above. Use 40mm x 40mm and weld either a 40mm x 10mm strip on one side or 40mm x 5mm strips on two sides. Personally I would go for the two strips as it would be much easier to control distortion. (Drill holes in the strips and weld through those onto the 40mm). I'm sure your local engineering firm could make this for you. I could make it but the postage would kill it. Good luck mate.

Will make it myself, I have the gear at work, good call on the 40x40 + 2x 40x5
