My cousin had a mate that put twin axles on a bedford and I remember seeing a couple of airbrushed vans sometime (70s-80s) on Garnet rd Westmere near the bradleys yard? One had a bigfoot on it. the other might have been star wars anyone remember airbrushed custom vans. lol. Can they make a comeback. lol. What would be a good modern van to customize and would it have to have a v8 to be true to form.

Oh yeah, they were drool material those custom vans, awesome paint jobs and plush padded velvet interiors. Cost nearly half of what our house did in the 80s.

Yep. Im thinking they make todays expensive campervans look a little dull and boring. anyone seen any nice airbrushed custom vans about lately? Big chrome lag pipes. truck side mirrors , rumbling big block. tubbed jacked rear,monster chrome front end and a paint job leonardo da vinci would admire. Whatever happened to real vans. lol

I remember one, possibly a Falcon panelvan that may have belonged to a parts supplier which had an F1 car airbrushed on the side with the wheels of the panelvan coinciding with the wheels of the F1 car. Cant remember the other bits of airbrushing on it, but that one stuck!

I shoehorned a 4v 351 Cleveland V8 etc into a early transit. brother-in-law had a big painted scene on it. was called Dawn Breaker. I remember him taking it to the Sweetwaters concert. bet that van could tell stories.

I love 70s paint jobs. Tape fades, freak drops, fish scales, scallops and murano pearl.
Major problem is finding a customer with the balls to let me go wild on their car / van / bike.

There were Ford Escort vans painted up so a big V8 is not really necessary.
A Ducato would be more of a wall mural rather than a small canvas.
