looking at a 2006 VZ Commodore SS 95km, been lowered, flows, exhaust system, bigger brakes etc, or 2007 VE Commodore SS 6L 108km, no mods. VE is 6k more. Now am I better off with the VZ cos its the last of the model, so hopefully all issues were sorted by then , or with the VE cos its a later shape, but obviously the first in the model so maybe some niggles. I like both , but am after opinions and why. cheers

Pretty common fault in VE - worn out cam followers. Not cheap.

Ve will surely always have better resale as newer shape. Underneath it's very much same car so new model problems aren't an issue. Not as if it's a new car with new mechanicals, it's all well proven stuff.
Maybe it comes down to whether you're in to modifications or not. For me I'd rather an original. It holds value and generally is better all rounder. Lower only helps when really pushing it, most of time it's just a bloody nuisance and makes ride harsh which on our crap roads can make it slower than car that can handle bumps better!

Go the VE, much better car (and no not the same underneath). Most stuff sorted out by now.

I would go VE but preferably not an early build one, 08 upwards is what to aim for, in fact newer the better is what to aim for. Not sure why anyone thinks it was a reworked VZ, it wasn't its a completely different platform with a similar drivetrain in it and it had loads of "new model problems", but generally not engine related, more body and electrical and for the most part not major. Cars that have been Holden serviced should have had most if not all problems sorted by now, and yes a good unmodified one is best.
