Very lucky that this idiot hit a tree and not a car with family aboard coming the other way.

Thank goodness no innocent passers-by were injured or killed by these self-absorbed idiots.
Go to a track day if you want to drive really fast.

What a muppet, that part of Koromatua rd is perfectly straight and he still can't keep his car on the road, the rise that he came over can be unforgiving but he should of known that, or was he just opening up his GTR on a road he's never been down?

Damn shame a great car was writtern off by these muppets. The damage wouldn't have been as bad if they have been in a Hillman Imp. Does this make a Hillman Imp a safer car than a GTR?

Yep just reading that now. A massive amount of Pure stupidity with an equally massive amount of pure luck. My sympathy goes to the clean up crew. (& the tree)

Spose it helps to explain why that model is so rare.

I have no sympathy for the fool driving the car.
But the photographs do show how amazingly strong the passenger cell is in the GTR.

Geez he must have been traveling at a great rate of knots to do that . If they didnt say you wouldnt even know the make of car . , obviously a clown in a very quick car &over estimated his capabilities . Reminds me of similar crash down my area , a young guy had just bought a sabaru WRX STI that morning & crashed into a couple in their BMW535 head on , passing a truck on an almost blind bend . He lived they died

And the police will use these sort of totally avoidable incident to justify there bullshit 4 km tolerance campaign . Anybody with half a brain will know that dickheads like this will be dickheads regardless of if tolerance is 4 or 10 km Hopefully the numb nuts will get his insurance claim denied on this one

One of the papers mentioned something to the effect that the vehicle was potentially worth 100 big ones, so if I were a betting man I would wager a couple of bucks that the payout will be zilch . and good bloody job too . I'm a long way from being a serious crash analyst, but a blind man can see what has gone down there, and it is highly probable that there was some serious speed involved. They are very very lucky to have survived that little mishap!

The GT-R's transmission is actually in the rear half of the car, behind where the front seats are

lol, I live 5 mins down the road, I might go pick it up!

trees are the worst thing to hit
they have spring & are rooted to the ground

One imagines they have learned something about cresting rises at high speed, and will be a little more cautious next time as to where and when it is appropriate to apply a little more slipper than usual lol
vtecintegra,
Dec 19, 1:32pm
I don't think the driver will be requiring slippers ever again
i think you will find trains are quite unforgiving.

Looks like an aircraft crash with debris laying about like that which proves excessive speed leading to that sort of carnage, kinetic energy is demonstrated very graphically and it's totally amazing no one was killed? I wonder if the muppet driver will have enough brains NOT to go repeat the exercise, if so I hope no one else is involved if that is the case. Totally totally shocking on all counts! I hope the full weight of the law hits the muppet driver super hard, I've got no sympathy for idiots like that. plus I hope his insurance coy( if he has one) walks way from this too, they will definitely have taken a dim view, buggered if I know what insurance coy would be bold enough to provide cover for something with performance potential like that car would have had, ah well one less of those "unguided missiles" on our roads I guess? Don't reckon there will be a hell of a lot of useful bits apart from scrap metal, the odd ancillary maybe? A classic example of the driver not having anywhere near the same performance capability as his car?

attended an accident once years ago, high speed, corner tree, car cut in half like that, well not actually like that but similar. Interestingly enough tho the 3 points of seat belt anchorage were in different halves of the remaining wreckage and the seatbelts effectively cut the occupants in half, wasn't a pretty site let alone pretty to clean up. They were disembowled for a start.
that's some serious speed in the that crash to tear a car apart, thats not simple innocent 10 to 20km clicks over the limit that's more like go for gold tap the car out double the speed limit atleast. very lucky to be alive and to not have killed some innocent. Its ok when they off themselves just so long as no innocents get hurt or killed in the process.
