I am after a part for a ZF transaxle. It can be sourced from the good ol USA but if I can find it here in NZ it would be easier for me.
The part I am after is the speedo drive gear unit and universal elbow for a 5DS 25/2 transaxle.
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be great. Thanks.

Pretty sure the Gear Box Factory is the official dealership for ZF parts. I think they are bases in Penrose?

Thanks Peter. Looks like its too rare for NZ so am making enquiries overseas. Thanks anyway.

My Brother had the same issue in a Peugeot 406, and didnt want to strip the transmission down to replace it. I got him a GPS speedo signal generator from Australia. It was never a problem at warrant time as his WOF provider did test drives, and it worked well on the road, probably not so well in a tunnel, but that never became a problem.

Hi budgel. thanks for that. Had a look at Smiths gauges for a GPS speedo signal generator today. Only thing is they all have a digital odometer display on them, and the car it's going into is from the 60's. So I'm thinking it would be better to try to keep the car with a original looking display, and I'll only go down the digital road if I really have to. But thanks for the advice - it all helps.

To follow up, it was suggested to me from another car related forum, to try a certain transmission business in Neilson St Onehunga. I went there today and with any luck I'll have the parts here next week.
