92 kawasaki zr550. Turn on the indicator and it lights up and stays hard on. Has something been shorted out?

It will be a blown bulb. That is what bikes tend to do when a bulb goes. unlike cars which flash faster.

try another flasher unit small square box or round box under the seat or behind side panel

All bulbs good. Left and right work but neither side flashing. Tanks been off for a service so wondering if some wiring's been crushed somewhere.

Or one of the wires has been pulled from the flasher unit. Sometimes it can be as simple as a poor contact from the Flasher Unit to the Loom. A clean of the contacts does wonders. Remember your bike is 23 years old now and there is a high chance the flasher unit has never actually been looked at.

No, if a rear bulb goes the front stays illuminated along with the indicator in the speedo cluster. Similarly if the front goes the rear will stay illuminated.
Well, that is how it used to work on my 80's and 90's bikes. Can't say i know what modern ones do as I haven't had an indicator bulb blow for years.

I knew what you meant, sorry! I was just being childish. It's happened to me as well; it's something to do with the voltage parameters of the flasher unit.: when one bulb blows, the other bulb draws too much or not enough etc. to make the flasher work.
