Darn good on him! Only the second driver to get 4 Championships in IRL. Nobody has got 5.

Fantastic result - for him and also for NZ. Those who backed him in his early days (who Scott repaid in full) must be extremely proud of 'their' lad.
Hard to believe that the freckle faced lad on the Chicane Racewear catalogue 16 years ago would be a world star!

I worked in Marketing at Telecom International in the early '90's and we sponsored a young guy racing a Sentra cup car. One of the team was a short, slightly chubby kid about 12 or so who just hung around as he wanted to be part of the action. He was the guy who was told to go and get some coffees / wash that windscreen / etc etc. Scott Dixon was his name.

He certainly repaid the faith put in him by his kiwi backers 14 years ago & Chip Ganassi. do it again next year still plenty of years left in him . Did it even make the networks news ? Glad it wasnt that arrogant prick Montoya ( not even liked by other drivers ) or the roughest .driver Power Had a cheer when they took each other out . But I wonder if the rear ender with Rahal was engineered to get Montoya up places , seemed rather convenient But credit to Graham Rahal Lettermans single car team against the big teams . Also soon to be married to Top Fuel racer the lovely miss Force .

Just been reminded I raced Scott Dixon and bet him. LOL but he was getting his licence in his mums Barina and later on in a Sentra 93/94

We have to hold onto those memories. In recent times I have beaten a young fella by the name of Jacob Stroud (Yes, Andrews son). I will remember that race a long time into the future when he makes it onto the MotoGP Grid.

I used to work with a guy who used to work as a track Marshall and when he was in the news as a 12 or 13 yo said that he would never amount to anything, I bet he's eating his words now.

Unfortunately if young kiwi roadracers have not grown up racing in Europe they will never make it to Moto Gp.

A very dangerous thing to say when watching kids do what they love. Who would have thunk a little kid from Kurow would be one of the greatest players of a game that has ever lived when he was kicking a ball around between a couple of tree trunks in his back yard. Not that I did, but I can imagine it. A very close mate at school did quite well in the same sport and captained Mid Canterbury when they won third division and went on to coach them. To me he was my mate who stayed over and we played on the motorbikes all weekend.
