Navman or other brand

Hi looking for advice from those who use in car GPS, looking a a Navman one that comes with a reversing camera and wanted to know if these are any good and how much wiring in etc is necessary, I have a 2010 Toyota without blue tooth. Wanted also to know how good or bad they are at detecting the different types of speed camera and how much warning they provide?
Thanks for any help re function, features to have, good brands and speed camera detection, do they detect all types or just fixed cameras?
Thanks

Navman is a top name.
As a gps it can tell you about fixed cameras it knows about, just as if they are places on the map. A gps doesn't detect any speed devices, merely knows about permanent fixed ones it has been told about.

wife has had Navman but her new car has come equipped with Tomtom (which I have in my car & prefer), she has quickly made Tomtom her preference too.

Great thanks for the advice, can you tell me what features you like best in the TomTom?

Tomtom is easier to programme in destinations, clearer screen, not as 'cluttered', hasn't put us wrong yet.
Navman is far more picky with street AND suburb input otherwise doesn't have any results & has got its directions wrong a couple of times however does give actual motorway lane position whereas Tomtom just says keep left or right & always tries to keep you in the right lane until ready to go to an offramp.

I have got a garmin its one for trucks got it from usa use it in a camper you put the size and weight in so it only takes you on roads that it will fit on plus you can put your own programs in to it we have camping places in it.

One thing I LI've about navman is the directions and how specific, ie turn right at Bunnings etc, ie it knows the landmarks etc

I find my Garmin way easier to use than my wife's Navman.

we have had a garmin and it drove us nuts finding weird ways to get places so replaced it with a Tom Tom and it is brilliant. Easy to use, very clear instructions, almost always finds the best rout, also good at putting us in the correct lane in auckland (very important) also free map upgrades. just my limited experience of the technology

Garmin does that as well with its standard maps. There are quite a few Garmin models that accept a reversing camera and have bluetooth and operate with your phone as well. I have a 2797LMT which has all that, plus it has live traffic updates that seem to work in NZ (I had live traffic update once anyway, when I was in the NI).

tom tom all the way. I sent my navman back as not fit to be on the market!

If a reversing camera is essential, one of the upper end (bluetooth) Garmin models coupled with a BC 30 backing camera kit will do the trick. I think the reversing camera kit adds about $220 or so.

Ignoring the request for a camera, I have both a Garmin and a TomTom.

Before my next overseas trip I will be buying a new TomTom 5100 or 6100 as you get world maps with those.

I use GPS multiple times every day for work, and that's when you find out how good a product is. Our company buys Garmin, and they are bl**dy hopeless!
I have a Tom Tom of my own that is superior.

I have no real issues with my navman, but it has tried telling me 2 roads were connected once, when they were not. That aside sometimes it chooses routes i would not normally take, but that can be down to setting shortest route or fastest or easy.
But the uniden piece of junk i had first(3 examples before i got money back, 1 was sent to service-nothing wrong as usual), got lost as a matter of daily routine, and often took up to 10 minutes to find a signal at startup, and regularly showed me driving thru building etc, whatever you buy, do not touch that junk.

Great thanks everyone looks like Tom Tom is the way to go. Or more top line Garmin.
Thanks for your help.
