it's common sense, always give way to the bigger vehicle - apart from the fact that the merging is done from the right lane to the left, I would have said the truck had right of way. when towing my horse float I used to go into the left lane, but got sick of cars trying 'to get ahead of the horsefloat' & forcing me onto the apron - I now use the right lane when it comes to merging after round abouts etc.
