"This Pajero has the reliable GDI engine which Mitsubishi is well known for. With vehicles not being built like they used to this is an opportunity to get a reliable vehicle that still has low km's. "

Yup Mitsi is known for it's GDI engine, reliable isn't generally the word associated with it though.

Difficult to decide whether its a pisstake or a breach of the Fair Trading Act, goods aren't supposed to be misrepresented.

I have a GDI mitsi, done 2 cambelts while I've had it so it hasn't been sitting still for too long, and I;ve only ever had one problem with it, the fuel pump, and in the process of finding it was the fuel pump I discovered all about getting the spark plugs out of GDI engines - but thats another story I often hear the horror in the posts condemning the GDI engine, why, its a good strong engine, punches well above its own weight like any engine it needs its services when due but if that is a fault then why not condemn the holden V8 or the 351 windsor
just what is it that the GDI is supposed to do or not do that makes it the grenade everyone thinks it is

People don't put the right octane fuel in it and then the inevitable problems start.

honestly, this thing has often had the tandem behind it with other vehicles on the tandem, and not small vehicles, its done trips to both ends of the nth island with good loads and generally pulling either a trailer or a caravan, I've recovered my hilux with it when the lux spat a cambelt, on the trailer it went, a mates v3000 from welly, a pajero out of tauranga back to waverley, 3 cummins 350engines complete and 2 15 spd road rangers on one trip home from the bay I often haul 4 large rounds of silage with it, in the hay season it is known for handling the tandem with 98 bales perched on it, I haul in and out of the bach, packs of deer posts and rolls of netting at the same time, it can haul 3.5 cube of green manuka on the tandem, with a quad perched on top of that its seriously not short of power, and seriously not short of reliability, when the lux spat the dummy it took to tracks and hills you'd never dream of tacking a FWD, and often had 2 sets of chains on it to make sure it stayed on the tracks, it didn't have the ground clearance of the lux so you often had to point one side up the bank to get through the rougher bits Mate, I've tried to kill this thing so many times,, it just will not die

While they can run on 91 it's not advised to do so, they run so much better on a quality low sulfur 95+ fuel.

The 3.5 GDI is probably the best of the bunch, but a common fault is fuel pump filter blocking up and being really difficult to replace. Have heard of instances of snapping crank shafts but I haven't personally come across any myself. The 2.5 and 3.0 GDI has a less stronger 2 bolt mains bottom end with not as good oiling as the 3.5.

this is just a crappy 2 lt Dion phil, it never left the factory expecting to be treated like this one gets, and it takes it

Oh right yours is the 4G63 GDI isn't it? It was made for one or two years only before being replaced by the 4G94 GDI (which is a damn good engine too). The 4G63 is a strong engine but like the 4G64 it shares most of its parts with, it can be an oil burner. The 4G64 GDIs are bad for it as the oil control rings get gummed up (due to small drain holes in the piston skirts, made worse by lack of oil changes).
