Anyone in the know about right hand drive conversions for new american vehicles? Thinking about doing a North American road trip, and tossing up the idea of buying a vehicle over there, then bringing it home afterwards for personal use. I would be keen for a new F250 Super Duty, I see Performax seems to bring them in and do conversions in Aussie but they are charging over $50k for the privilege. Any idea what it could cost in NZ if I already had the vehicle?

brqap--I understand theres a range of "kits" you can buy in the states. Dash, steering etc then get bunce to install it
Looks like these guys are still around/ are back and have experience with these trucks

If you got a performance pickup such as the Ford F-150 Raptor I wonder if it could complied as a special interest vehicle which would then not require conversion to RHD. Woud need to be the two door model though I guess, not the crew cab.

The F-650 would also be a special interest version.

Just so you know, F250 = COF + RUC. F150 = WOF only.

You will find that no Trucks/Pick-ups/Utes can comply as a special interest vehicle. They all have to be converted, unless 20 years or older.

These guy's are in New Plymouth, been around a long time, always see new USA pick up trucks and cars there getting converted, they even used to convert the Peterbilt trucks for LPG carrier Ulenberg transport in Eltham.
yep, I think Eagle would be 30k for the F series Ford conversion.

Correction to my above post - probably light Utes would be OK, but not an F Series type of Pick-up.
30K is the figure I've heard chucked around.
