A quick video of me on the job.

grangies, Jan 9, 2:55pm
Just thought I'd video myself painting for the fun of it.

You gunna become NZs Gunman?

grangies, Jan 9, 3:15pm
Donno about that. Gunman is a legend!

ceebee2, Jan 9, 3:24pm
What was ure compressor pressure Grangies. I have also sprayed many bumpers and the like with the same tip size at about 25- 40 psi.

grangies, Jan 9, 3:28pm
About 40psi on the wall. I don't have a gauge on my guns.

Here's a couple of recently finished jobs.

16 foot caravan painted with Carboline 379, and 36ft launch painted with Sikkens BT300 with Elasto-Activ additive.

Excellent workmanship - especially the Merc and JH.
I noticed you mentioned having eye protection yet you weren't wearing any. Those products can't be good for your eyes.

survivalkiwi, Jan 9, 3:50pm
Cool video. I am a tradie in another industry and am not trying to be a queer prick.
But can I ask why you mask up the tail light and bumper and not take them off?
Genuine question. Cheers.

attitudedesignz, Jan 9, 3:58pm
I'd make a video of me painting but you wouldn't see ning cos my shed is a dark **** hole lol

I notice you were pretty quick on rear quarter but lot slower the further forward ya got, any reason?

grangies, Jan 9, 3:58pm
Good question. It's a car dealer touch up, fresh off the boat from Japan. The dealer's aren't willing to pay to remove the tail lights etc unless absolutely crucial.

The job in the video had a bit of a whack in the door and rear quarter, so it's only clear coat that goes next to the tail light and minimal by the bumper end. The Estima's have a good gap between the bumper and body to get tape behind too.

grangies, Jan 9, 4:05pm
Yeah. The video is my last coat.

I was using slow thinner, so on my first coat I usually apply the clear a bit lighter on my blend areas to avoid runs or excessive wetness. The blend areas were further forward, so on my final coat I slow it right down to wet the blend area up again.

grangies, Jan 9, 4:08pm
Not too sure I get what you mean. What's a JH and how can you see the merc pics? LOL.

attitudedesignz, Jan 9, 4:10pm
Aren't they on ya services listing?

grangies, Jan 9, 4:15pm
I haven't got the services listing going just now. Got too much work on lately, and sick of moron's contacting me for quotes on their hunks of shyte and never hearing back from them after I spend a lot of time replying to them as best I can. hahahahah.

attitudedesignz, Jan 9, 4:37pm
Oh brother, ya preaching to the converted lol.

Mine is the potatoes owners who want this and that air brushed on their tin's, spend an hour or so doing some quick renderings only for them to say it's too expensive. Only to see them six months later with some spray can matte black **** on the bike. Luckily I don't need the business otherwise it would hurt my feelings haha.

skyblue17, Jan 9, 4:52pm
OK that answers a question for me. I'll leave it til next month. Say g'day to Barry.

grangies, Jan 9, 5:10pm
Hi. Shaun Walburn here. How do you know me and Dad (Barry). ?

What did you have in mind that needs doing?

survivalkiwi, Jan 9, 5:13pm
Cheers for that. In the building industry if a client finds you taking any short cuts they want you hung drawn and quartered

grangies, Jan 9, 6:03pm
You must do good work to avoid (any) short cuts. If you done some shytbox houses all the client would want you to do, is make it all happy and shiny with rainbows in every direction, with a bent corner hidden away somewhere.

bjmh, Jan 10, 4:16am
a bit like watching paint dry !

lookoutas, Jan 10, 6:16am
Took you a while to get over Xmas.

Or have you been in General?

trogedon, Jan 10, 6:29am
Eyes, like any orifice are a receptor for pollutants so if I was spray painting full time (I've done enough as home jobs) I'd be wearing a full face respirator. I looked at your other vids. JH - Jensen Healey and the grey/blue Merc (lol).

bjmh, Jan 10, 9:33am
aww gee is it new year already,na been chasing non-existent fish, yousless fisherman as well as a decrepit old mechanic. ha ha

ceebee2, Feb 22, 5:13am
Awesome job on that boat. I have also sprayed the top sides only on this 12 month restoration project.
