Santa Fe issues

jojo76, Jan 22, 10:25pm
Well got the santa back, the faulty crankshaft sensor got replaced, there was oil in it? So looks like we have a leaking seal, which apparently the whole engine will have to come out to fix, autosure mechanical insurance won't cover it until it completely f**ks out. Thanks autosure. And thanks Hyundai for your great support - not :(

msigg, Jan 23, 5:13am
Well It's good that you told us what the problems was, most posters don't come back. Good luck with the leaking seal, hopefully will last a while.

jojo76, Jan 23, 5:17am
Sorry, I was a tad tired And angry when I wrote that this morning. lol. Hyundai said take it into a service centre and that will run a full diagnostics through it, at my cost. Better than 'we don't want to know' attitude.
I really thought we were buying a good vehicle, so many people have excellent runs with Santa Fe's. We just seem to have got a lemon :(

So autosure won't fix it until it completely craps out? How long is the policy for? Surely they would rather fix it until it becomes a major?

gmphil, Jan 23, 10:13am
like above how long left on your policy ? could be there expecting policy to run out before it get terminal.

jojo76, Jan 25, 1:50pm
Still have 3 years on warranty - im going to contact them, and ask about it getting fixed now.

jason18, Jan 25, 2:26pm
To right. They can't just tell you to wait till it craps out. What's the point.

jojo76, Jan 15, 3:54pm
Does anyone else have issues with a Santa fe? We have an 09 diesel, that is having sensors fail - first it was a sensor to do with the erg valve or something. How he have a crankshaft sensor can't go a couple of km before the engine cuts out. Getting towed tommorow. We seriously have bad luck when it comes to vehicles, never ending money pit! We have only owned the Santa fe for 10 months :(

what ever you do dont let any morons near it and 60% of so called professionals are morons and 98% of diy are morons.
now let see i read your post again and make more comments. soon

grangies, Jan 15, 4:03pm
Just relax. Once it's fixed, it may be fine fine for many years to come. Or not LOL.

intrade, Jan 15, 4:04pm
ok i said this loads of time sensors might not be faulty at all , its when you have morons without a clue like the usual swapatron mechanic who plugs in a scantool and gets a code for a crank angle sensor and just replaces the part since he is a moron swapatron who has no clue of what he is actuarly doing. the thing is the code is a symptom not a cause ,
tHE CAUSE needs to be found and fixed.
So what exactly was done about the egr code?
read out code found egr code replace egr valve like swapatron moronic fixing ? or what exactly was done?

intrade, Jan 15, 4:06pm
also this vehicle what milage do you drive it ? long trips short trips?
all this information is extreem relevant for a correct repair.

Is this thread censored?

It should be, it is endangering the English language.

jojo76, Jan 15, 6:26pm
Long trips 110,000km

m16d, Jan 15, 9:07pm
"swapatron" . must add that word into my spell checker.

bjmh, Jan 16, 7:26am
ha ha u swapatron u

intrade, Jan 16, 4:57pm
i would ring up aecs.net and ask them who in your region they can recommend you take your vehicle to . OR you be ending up paying tousends to swapatrons with no clue and a fancy scanner .

intrade, Jan 16, 5:11pm
ps: swapatron is not my invention its from a guy with extreem knowhow his diagnostic skills match what you learn at aecs and bosch germany for diagnostic trouble shooting you have to find out what is right in order to find out what is wrong , Not like swapatrons opening bonnet hmmmm might be this! swap out part . nop . wasnt it. plug in scanner tool ohh a code! , lets swap this part . nop was not that,,,,,,,, so what else could a swapatron swap, out , they will continue swapping stuff insted of actuarly checking components for its correct function and tick off the box of what is right and follow the path of what is not right once they have a lead , Thats what swapatrons dont do. because they are swapatron=morons. and you be amazed how mutch swapatrons exist in the world. The car manufacturer are partly to blame because they endorced this swapatron practice in the 80s and 90s.

the problem is a egr fault has a reason and the reason must be fixed befr you swap out a valve that is non functioning due to carbon buildup.
decarboning intake and checking any other things that cause the egr valve to fail must be checked and that includes wrong engine oils faulty fuel injector and a few other sensors that could have been leading to the egr valve problem.

intrade, Jul 25, 12:08am
60% of so called professional mechanics are swapatrons if not more the guy who invented the word recons only 2% in the diy world have a clue and he might be right .
Anyhow i used to not know anything mutch about components and how they work 4 years ago i also did some guessing but i always wanted to know the exact fault before i fix things .
Having only repaired old diesel with 0 electronics i had no need to know anything about these electronic parts. So i was asked to find out why a mazda paddock car would no longer run
did the obvious spark was there fuel was there so said i want you to take the mass airflow meter in to electrition to check. He took it in came back and said they told him they cant check it it needs to be on the car.
that was the first time i was thinking why can professionals not check items for faults.
Well i started learning about all this electronic crap my self soon after! as diesel are all electronic now also. and i can tell you
i can check that mass airflow meter now! its still byond me why this big autoelectrical place could not do it . Bosch even have instructions to a test lead for there hfm5 mass airflow.and the test for that can be used on any other mass airflow meter you just need the powersupply to power the 5 volt that MOST mass airflow meters almost all of them run 5 volt and blow thru it , and mesure with a scope if it functions sending a voltage on the pin that is going back to the engine computer.
yes it is more easy on a car to test it but they said it could not be done and it can, be done .
