Listing vehicles using motorweb

Hey folks just a heads up. Trade me have gone over to using Motorweb which uses the rego number of a car/bike/truck as a means to load the basic information for the advert.
Be aware that the information is rarely up to date.
For sellers it pays to double check the information.
Important information is mucked up
Milage incorrect Rego/wof expiry date incorrect transmission type etc can be incorrect.
If you go back and edit your advert for some reason the basic information can revert back to a default setting showing for example no registration on a car with months left on it or a wof expiry date that's not correct.
So you need to be extra carefull when starting a listing
For bidders concidering a car its well worth asking if the info is correct.
This is based entirely on personal experience with the last few cars listed. Motorweb is just not up to date.

I wonder how can that be? Perhaps Motorweb only updates periodically rather than in realtime. Have you asked TM to explain?

Kaz, are you loading listings using the autopopulate function (enter registration number of VIN number field) or are you doing the initial load manually? (Using the initial option to load the basic detail yourself, bypassing the rego / VIN field autopopulate option)?

nope--just giving a heads up on this one.
from My POV why institute something if the information it supplies is incorrect.

Its a bit like reading through Carjam listings, those things are so full of inaccurate and in some cases not really relevant crap that if anything its a hinderance to a buyer not an aid, IMO there is no point whatsoever in saying something hasn't got a current license and WOF when the seller can clearly prove it has, what info that's available should be not more than a day old.

I agree totally-why make something the default advertising setting if the information isn't correct.?
you can bet your bottom dollar what the response will be from trade me if you try to hit them up for lost income due to THEIR wrongly supplied information

Kaz, are you using DMS systems to upload, or are you doing so manually? If manually, (like me) I NEVER use the "enter rego number or VIN number" first option, and hit the "or enter details manually" option just below instead. It takes about 2 extra minutes to complete the listing compared to the Motorweb based default option, and you enter all the correct (ie up to date) info (including WOF and Rego expiry in advance) so it reads accurately.

If you're using a DMS system to push your data, (like MotorCentral) then it's them you need to talk to, not TradeMe, since the first "touch" your listing has with data is likely via your DMS provider, not Motorweb.
