Fail Wof - pass elsewhere?

Hi,

My car failed a wof at a certain mechanic for a small hole in the chassis, cut apparently to allow a cable or two through.
I've had this car for like 8 years, it's passed through VTNZ a number of times, and have had no issues elsewhere.
I've been told (not by the mechanic, but someone else) that if I take it somewhere else (another mechanic), since all the details are shared, they will see the details of why it failed (the chassic hole), and have to fail me as well.

Is this true, do all mechanics have a central system where they can see if a car has failed elsewhere?

Take the car to any WOF place you want the only record "if it has been logged " will show the word "structure "

Thanks, so the info is always logged in a central system, but only where it failed, not full details about the failure?

Cheers

Not where it failed only the type of fail ie . structure , lights, tyres . No more

Yes some in the industry are pedantic, wait your 28 days and take it somewhere else, They may pick it up, may not, its a gamble.

If you don't wait the 28 days, the next wof place will be more suspicious

The warrant sheet will tell you why it failed and give you an idea of if the location of the hole was accurately noted which seems highly unlikely.
Fill the hole with a rubber bung, go elsewhere, and plead ignorance of the original failure. Better still, get the wife to do it and she can legitimately say " no idea what it was".

Just a thought, I know it's completely out of left field but see the idea has been touched on, why not just fix the hole? Sorry probably just a silly idea.
