road code to some others. Driving down the road from work a woman pulls out of a driveway right in front of me without even looking, I probably could've braked but it would've been close so a quick swerve around her & alls good or so I thought. until she speeds up behind me giving ME the fingers then at the next set of lights takes a photo of my car & I assume rego plate so I suppose she's going to report me. update to come on that. Then nearly home, lane next to me has steady big gap so I indicate & change lanes BUT guy about 3 car lengths back accelerates to close up the gap so by the time I'm in the lane he's closing fast & then tailgating me, then starts with hand signals of various varieties & more tailgating (a quick brake test soon backed him off) before he turns off with many more gestures out the window. So according to these people Im the bad guy, how does that happen? Have I been using the wrong road code all these years?. oh thats right, I was in South Auckland!

The bigger pisser is people on side roads looking you in the eye then pulling out right in front of you when they know you're doing 100kph. then taking 2 days to get up to speed!

Mate; if you're going to drive around South Auckland with a current rego and w.o.f and no obligatory space saver tyre on at least one corner of you car what can you expect!

Arrrggghh. couldn't agree more! It's plain arrogance and happening more and more these days. They put their responsibility back on you. make it your problem to avoid them, even though they're completely in the wrong. Guess they figure you ain't gonna wreck your car by bulldozing into them, so they just blast out and to hell with anyone else who might happen to be on THEIR road!

Im have been having a few close calls lately with one being a near head on that shook me up pretty bad due to someone with no brains passing as night around a blind corner!
after that happened I went into town the next day and bought a dash cam!

It happens a lot to me in tractors, people pull out in front of me to avoid being stuck behind I guess. I don't slow down too much, I let my 1.5m tall front wheels get nice and close to their back bumper. Even better if I have a set of forks or a bulldozer blade fitted to the front.

it is amusing to see the difference in responses between forums on here, I posted this in general (yeah I know, what did I expect) & you'd swear I'd purposely gone out with knives sticking out of my car & attacked innocent people at random (sure I exaggerate but. ) You can tell the logical, down to earth guys on here compared to the 'pick over every detail, add our own imaginary details & assume a lifetime of actions from one paragraph' usual internet dwellers

You know you are driving in NZ when.
Every sympathy. I noticed it when I first drove in NZ 30 years ago. My first letter back home was that the majority of Kiwis are extremely friendly, but for many, it all goes to custard when they are behind the wheel.
Nothing much has changed other than the women drivers in the wrong, are probably more aggressive than the men - and not at all ladylike!

that is not 100% right something has changed you used to be run over by drivers in the 90s when you where crossing the main road on a pedestrian marked crossing if you would step out and a car would come they would flatten you . Now they do stop if they see you waiting at a crossing so that has changed. i was surprised one day dont know how the change of this had happened . maybe they killed a few and learned from it i dont know its a mistery to me still.

the road turned into battle field at the mo. summer has effectively started, just had school holidays. all of which brings out the crazies. not sure if uni students are out but certainly a few young fellas hooning around at the mo.
all ready coming across car crashes and trailers with missing wheels. thats usually the first sign of summer.
already phoned in a few crazy overtakers. had one overtake last night and then drove slow trying to bait me. just all the drugged up nut jobs looking for a fight are out on the road.
