Thought these had a cam belt ?

You'd be right, Mazda WE diesels are indeed belt and its a fantastic easy to service arrangement that's far superior to a chain. Just ignorant generic prattle from dealers on these listings a lot of the time.

Tell him, nicely. All entitled to mistakes.

pf, Aug 7, 8:08pm
and when you repeat the same mistake after being told nicely ?

curlcrown, Aug 8, 4:16am
The reason dealers "prattle" on about cam chains is because that what buyers want to hear.

tamarillo, Aug 8, 4:25am
Have they? If they have and will not correct they are making a misrepresentation and can be booked for it, if someone bothers to complain.

tgray, Aug 8, 5:37am
If a customer bought it on the basis of being told by the dealer it did not have a cambelt, it is grounds to get a full refund after purchase.
I wouldn't make a difference whether it was a mistake or not.

I'd hate to be that dealer when the new buyer lunches his engine after failing to change the timing belt he was misled into believing never existed.

Best to give facts so customers can make up their own mind methinks.

It could get sticky in the case of it going pear shaped. It's U Sell and the sales agreement is between another company and the new purchaser. So who provided the wrong description?

U Sell or the seller? (U Sell may just be advertising what the seller told them).

So potentially a faecal matter cyclone with each party blaming the other. Then there is U Sells "don't trust our description" disclaimer.

Technically straight forward according to law, potentially difficult and annoying to get compensation in reality.

kazbanz, Aug 8, 6:45am
What year did they go over to chain? I know in the bongo vans its 2011
-interested to find out.
Re false advertising. Won't be the first time or the last with that particular organisation. Think back a few months--where did the bent Kisashi come from?

tgray, Aug 8, 6:46am
I have a good idea. Dealer who wrote the listing?. simply change your ad.
All good, no worries.

tgray, Aug 8, 9:22am
The ad clearly says they are motor dealers and covered by both acts.

westwyn, Aug 8, 4:14pm
It's more then likely it's the vendor (the owner) who has either given U-Sell the incorrect information, or in the absence of information, simply assumed it's a chain. The contract here is clearly between the dealer vendor (as listed on the CIN notice in one of the photos) and the buyer, not U-Sell, who are simply the facilitator of the marketing / parking service. Any issue over a misleading description is between the buyer and the vendor, not U-Sell.

kazbanz, Aug 8, 4:27pm
Yep standard U sell modus operandi--"ohh no mista wasn't us" we dint know nuffink.
bent cars ,rusty cars rebuilt wright offs. We just supply the land.

tamarillo, Nov 3, 11:07am
Are you guys SURE it's a belt? Later ones seem to be chain so when did it change? Just maybe it's chain?
