From the map, the drive from Piction to Mahana Lodge looks scenic. Are the Kenepuru Rd, Titirangi Rd, Akerbloms Rd sealed roads or are they gravel roads?
Kenepuru is sealed. I was there at Christmas. Our family has a bach at Sandy Bay , past The Portage and it is still sealed well past that.

If visiting Wellington, is a day trip to Picton worth the 6 hour return ferry ride? The ferry fare is $110 per person without car.

Its a beautiful but short ocean voyage. Try a sunrise and sunset cruise for visual thrills. mountain bikes would be good, dont forget your swimmers.
