Does rough idling mean a fail for WOF? My car has been idling rough the past few days and WOF is due this week.

Will have no bearing on the WOF. Unless the cause of the rough idling effects one of the safety items they inspect as part of the WOF.

na solong as it dont emmits smoke for more then 10 secounds. But you should get somone professional have a look at it, because rough running on modern cars is not a good thing and can cause you tousends of $ in damage by something that might quite cheaply be fixed .Provided you dont take it to some morons with no clue and there is more morons out there then you can immagine.

Thanks. I'm planning to bring it to a garage soon. Do you know any good mechanic in Auckland?

Terry Grubner Motors, Enterprise st Birkenhead. I've dealt with them for a number of years, Daryl is a great mechanic and him and his wife (who runs the office and keeps him in line!) are honest people.
