What a sight , so many Britten's in 1 place at the same time . Andrew Stroud couldn't resist lifting the front wheel at any opportunity . Would be the biggest crowed i have seen there for years and its just a qualifying day, noticed a lot of overseas visitors spending up large on anything Britten related, racing proper starts tomorrow .http://www.bearsracing.co.nz/-

Did my engineering course with Andrew, we used to race down the motorway home (he only had a 250 then) and he could ride. Nice guy.

Dave--give the lil ginga ninja a kick for me.-The guy riding the other Britten.

looks like those that didn't head down due to doing BOTS are gonna be gutted. BOTS canned due to weather

How many Brittens were there? I saw two promoted in the Press the weekend before.

kazbanz, Feb 23, 8:06am

I think there were 7 Britten's all up . Once in a life time event . Added a pic of my latest toy where i took a break around Porters Pass .

Nice. I have fond memories of the Britten when it used to race around Pukekohe all those years ago - saw it race numerous times and what a sight and sound - used to hit the back straight and up on one wheel for what seemed like an age - awesome.
Obviously Andrew Stroud rode it a bit - and even Chris Haldane rode it for while around that time?. I guess there has been a few notable riders of the Britten over the years.

I just happened to be handy when they wanted a lift to take the Bevel drive Britten off the stand so it could go out on the track . I said my mate i was staying with, did you get a pic of that . Nope he was to busy looking at something else . Was a great turn out , Stroud wasted some rubber on his way back to the pits with a couple of burnouts .

kazbanz, Feb 23, 2:20pm
Did you see the lil ginga ninja?he was one of the riders on the other "production" britten

I didn't realise there was a bevel Britten - but very clear to see in the second photo - was it a Ducati frame it was based around?
I wish I had of kept my old bevel - was only an SD - but a very good example and got plenty of years of joy out of it - they are very collectable now and worth good money. at the time I had the bevel and also a mid 90s 900ss - and seemed to ride the belt drive a lot more.
But still have a soft spot for the bevels - when I see and here one in the flesh I get goose bumps. just about bought an S2 Mille once - only if.

desmodave, Feb 23, 4:36pm
Have had my 83 Darmah 29 years , i see no good reason to part with it .

desmodave, Feb 23, 4:59pm
I cant be sure on the frame but i suspect it was very modded , front end looked like Marzocchi and the rear swing arm was braced .

kazbanz, Feb 23, 5:38pm
nahh Shaun Harris --rode the Britten at IOM with success

kazbanz, Feb 23, 5:40pm
Its not a "britten" as such More a Brittenified bike.

ian86, Feb 23, 5:44pm
Good on you. , I wish now I had thought the same. along with those old V8 cars I used to own. only if I had a crystal ball.

ian86, Feb 23, 5:48pm
Yeah looking at the photo and front end it could have been based around a MHR?.

kazbanz, Feb 23, 6:23pm
I lusted after those brooke henry specials-The Alchemy for many years.
Side mounted rear monoshock etc. Rode one from a bike shop in Sydney about 20 years ago.

desmodave, Feb 23, 6:36pm
Phil Payne had his x Alchemy sv1 racing , i thought i would go looking for him in the pits , he found me 1st. https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/366069701.jpg

desmodave, Feb 24, 4:09am
I only got to see the smoke as was at the other side of the track . Was a top weekend .

kazbanz, Feb 24, 6:47am
