i have a 1999 nissan terrano running the ZD30DDTI motor in it, when i was driving it today the engine light came on and then the ext started rising so i pulled over and turn the truck off and it cleared the engine code but then did it again, what would be causing this? Would be a great help cheers.

Air flow meter is common on those isn't it? would cause overfuelling and on a diesel doesnt that increase EGT? Im only guessing here

and how exactly did you determen the exhaust temperature did rise? did you look for blocked exhaust ? also the light stays lit when the computer finds something outside the window of operation during 5 continues checks, the problem wont be gone if the light is out it just means it has not seen it fail 5 times in a row

you need to pull the codes with a factory level capable scanner . launch-tech will pull any code on a nissan . for diy i do not know if the diy-consults cover diesel what plug do you have exactly the obd2 or old nissan square plug or both?

i know the temperature increased because i have a gauge telling me and also it has the square nissan plug
dont damage pins in connectors and dont fry the ecu- if its to hard take it to a big main nissan dealership and have the code read out with factory scanner. i use T pins and a scope to test sensors , i am sure the manual has coverage how to get codes out you can look and post what page it is on i dont want to do your work also.

i could not let it go lol page 36 has self diag dont spread pins use suitable pins to jumper as per distructions . also irregular blinking check engine light drain water from fuel-filter also somwhere there . so i got to whatch some training movies now i am done with helping you for tonight . make a movie of the bulb flashing before you erase codes so you know what they are .
