I have a 1997 Mazda Capella Station Wagon. Got in it today and when I start to drive off, it hardly moved. Then when put my foot down it started to go okay. Husband said when he was driving it today that when he starts to speed up it doesn't seem to change gear, so he has to slow down and speed up slowly and then it comes right again. It had all belts and cam belt down 2 months ago and belts have been tightened. Any thoughts on what could be causing this please.

Need to check it with motor running, and in park. Put foot on brake and run it through the gears first.
That should be right, but I didn't google Lol

If it is low, there will possibly be a leak, will need to get that sorted as well. Anyway hear back from you in the morning.

Just had a thought lol. By the gears at the end of the consul (SP) there is a little black button which I think could be a hold button. I recall pressing it the other day when I was cleaning around the area. Hopefully that is all it will be.

My old Astina had that HOLD system on it, it locks out the overdrive and IIRC starts in second gear and then changes to third, it made the car feel like it was being driven through treacle. Its intended for driving in snow and where you need engine braking.
