Cut speed limit to match .

It was 55 until the fuel crisis of the 70s when it was reduced to 50 then back to 55. Some roads had a 60MPH limit for a while in the early 70s, Taupo-Napier Rd is one I recall.

In 1960, the speed limit was 50MPH, raised to 55MPH mid-60's, then the 60MPH came in late 60's, dropped back to 50MPH in 1973 as a result of the Fuel Crisis.

I got my licence 18/12/59, on my 15th. birthday, after a drive around Browns Bay. The cop told my father, I was "full of confidence". the confidence of Yoof. ;-)

I was specifically referring to the post I quoted - that did not establish anything at all

When I did my licence an emphasis was made to keep left these days it is a rarity to see people doing this. Plus these day the left side of the road is painted white on the left and most drivers take this as being the left side even though there is ample safe roading to pull over further left to let other vehicle behind to pass very few do. I think is due to the fact that if they do pull over to the left and when they have to get back onto the main lane other drivers behind won??

I suppose there will always be people who insist that smoking is fine and they have been smoking for years and still alive and kicking. They can probably quote a relative who smokes and lived till 90 years old too.
