Do you mean thickness? This is determined by the manufacturer, different cars, different thicknesses.

It is often written on the disc, I've found it on outer rim once cleaned. Can't say if this is always true but worth a try.

When the ventilation ribs are rubbing on the pad backing plate it's probably time to change them.

That is the pads that need replacing, or at least one or two of them. The rotors should be fine (think slotted rotors).
