Inattentive pedestrians

exwesty, Dec 10, 9:36am
Last night as i approached an intersection a pedestrian engrossed in his cell phone was about to step out onto the roadway without looking behind him.

Do you

A: Stop and giveway to the moron?

B: Run them over and hope your dashcam is working?

C: Lean on the horn and scare the shit out of them and back to reality?

tony9, Dec 10, 9:46am
B is preferred, but the paperwork is a nightmare.

C, most likely.

peja, Dec 10, 10:12am
C Lean on horn, and if there is nobody behind you and its safe to do so, stomp on brakes to generate loud screeching for additonal effect. People like this need scaring for their own beneift as much as anyone elses

kazbanz, Dec 10, 10:38am
hey exwesty--why would a pedestrian about to step onto the road look behind him?

richardmayes, Dec 10, 11:19am
A, because the death penalty seems a bit extreme.
And because we are grown-up enough to show a bit of good grace when someone makes a mistake, even though we would be entitled to put the boot into him, right?

Right. ?

There's more to life than cars and driving, take it easy!

mrfxit, Dec 10, 12:15pm
1st & Foremost "A" followed VERY fast by "C" & if possible lots of "VB"

VB = verbal abuse

elect70, Dec 10, 1:22pm
B is prefered option ,they wont do it again , but you will find yourse;lf behind bars probably so c is the correct answer. car hits pedestrian its drivers fault according to plod

tamarillo, Dec 10, 1:24pm
C first, though good beeb beeb is kinder. At same time check mirror to ensure no one is tale gating you, and start squeezing brake in anticipation of emergency stop.

saxman99, Dec 11, 12:09pm
Depends on the country.

In USA it's A. B or C will get you sued and prison.

In NZ B or C will apply.

In the Middle East. Well, you get the idea.

tweake, Dec 11, 12:32pm
c then a.
i've had ones that have stopped in the middle of an entrance way talking on their phone. horns fixed that.
also had them walk into the side of my work van while i was driving through town.

peja, Dec 11, 12:42pm
Its incredible isnt it? You dont believe anyone can be that stupid until you actually see them do it. Even worse are the mongs that walk around on the road and on cycleways wearing headphones. Obviously desperate to be nominated for this years Darwin Awards. Dont they know they wont be at the awards ceremony?

elect70, Dec 11, 1:32pm
happened to me just at top of hill coming into Cambridge , bint on cell phone could see she was distracted so slammed on anchors , stopped 500 Cm from her , she let out a string of abuse so i told her her pedigree .

exwesty, Dec 11, 3:38pm
I hit the horn on the one the other night two feet away from him just as he was about to step out onto the road without looking to see if anything was coming from behind. He leaped two feet in the air and is probably still washing the brown stains out of his daks.

peja, Dec 11, 4:32pm
He should be thanking you even if has had to throw the daks away. He will look next time. Which may save his life

sw20, Dec 11, 6:07pm
Because they are walking on the footpath on the left side of the road and the driver of the car is turning left into the street they are crossing.

cagivachick1, Dec 11, 6:23pm
what gives me the squints is people stepping onto a pedestrian crossing right in front of you, obviously no one knows the thing about the white diamond on the road and the car having past that has right of way

fordcrzy, Dec 11, 6:24pm
def C. scare the shit out of them then stop and give them a serve. i HATE mororns who step out on to ped crossings without looking or seeing if theres even any cars coming like the magical white lines will save them

sw20, Dec 11, 6:28pm
That's not true sorry. It just means there is a pedestrian crossing ahead.

cagivachick1, Dec 11, 6:39pm
used to be when i got my licence but looking at it now that has changed, still if a car is 5 meters away from a crossing you shouldnt just step on to it

vivac, Dec 11, 9:28pm
My pet hate too, especially mothers with prams, they just do a quick 90degree turn and keep walking at the same pace sometimes using the pram as some sort of meat shield.

richardmayes, Dec 12, 7:46am
I hate it when people step out onto pedestrian crossings and I have to brake hard to stop for them.

Because it makes me realise I haven't been paying enough attention as I'm driving along, to those I need to give way to.

tigra, Dec 12, 8:36am
My thoughts exactly

fordcrzy, Jun 26, 11:29am
actually if your betwwen the diamond and the crossing THEY have to wait for you to pass. stepping out when the car is 10M from the crossing is illegal
