Yeah same as beein told oldens need ford motors to go fast-end of the day-they don't fit em as not required-olden drivers are used to goin SLOW- alas one day someone will tell em they juss driving a chev or a buick. lol

No. Bugger all if any of those assembled in NZ would have any outside mirrors at all ex factory, they were dealer fitted accessories on most cars in those days. Jap ones would have had them but it wouldn't be illegal to remove them.

Interesting. Not knowing what a ke20 was I Googled it, and came up with heaps of images of these cars, some having wing mirrors, some with door mirrors. Now, if WOF pass depends on original spec, who is to decide where the original placement should be? And if the car is repaired/restored using bits from here and there, could you fit one of each? Might be a good way to get in a bust up with the warrant inspector.

There is no argument, original spec is not relevant with respect to mirrors, a pre 2000 car does not require an exterior mirror and it cannot be failed if its not there whether it was originally fitted or not.

My 1973 car does not have any external mirrors and that has never been a problem wof time. Same case as OP, some came out with them and some didn't.

I couldn't own a car that didn't have side mirrors. Might have something to do with age, and stiffer neck than before.
I know it wouldn't worry a lot of people that I come up behind!

Its an easy mod though. No to mention will be helpful to you. P.S I put wing mirrors on both my KE20s and KE30s
