Oils for jetski

Hi. Have just got a Kawasaki stx 1100. A few questions as only new to this. What type oil should you run in them. Has an oil pump but have heard you can also add oil to the petrol incase oil pump fails. Also 91 or 96 petrol? . Do you need to run water thru them when not in water and motor running. One person said no you don't and another said yes you do. Thanks

they're thirsty little critters aren't they, 12.2 gallons per hr at full throttle - 55 lt hr

You need to find an experienced jetski person and talk to them asap! the STX 1100 is a very good reliable ski IF it is looked after.
you need to flush the engine after riding in salt water with fresh water or preferably a "salt away" mix.
When flushing ski start ski 1st then turn on water, run like this for a few minutes to flush then disconnect water, give ski a few "blips" on throttle (not full throttle) to clear the exhaust then stop ski.
If you have water running without the engine going the exhaust will full with water then the engine!
Good luck & enjoy your ski, they are a great 1st ski.

I forgot, these will run on most mineral marine 2stroke oils, a mate of mine brought one new (1998) and has still got it, always runs silverline marine and has had zero issues.
