Hi all, Can anyone tell me about the AA vehicle Badges? I want to get one for my 65 Cortina, but would like it to be the correct era if possible. I think I read that they went square in 67 but if my 65 falls within the square years I probably couldn't do it to my beautiful car lol. What was the badge issued in 65? Also, were they all labelled with the home town? The car is Lower Hutt Assembled, so is there a Wellington label to look for? Thanks for the help.

Plates start with a DY - not sure about where it was registered. Cheers

Hi crudeawakening, here is a Pommie website giving some dates. Yes, 1967 seems to be when the UK changed it's badges shape but not sure if NZ would have done so at the same time though.
Other than that are you sure you are using the correct logic here? I'm pretty certain that a car owner bought their badge at the time of joining the AA and then transferred it to all their subsequent cars for as long as they were members, or perhaps even longer if they just wanted it as nice decoration. I've seen heaps of cars far more recent than 1967 with the older style badge, and lets face it there is a pretty big jump in style between the two. I'd go for the older style personally, as anything more modern might spoil the older, rounder look of your car.
