Don't know if there is any stupid law against using external led lights.

Are these illegal

I'd probably keep the halogen bulb's / fittings then swap when wof is due in a few yrs time.

Totally legal.
You could save a shit load by using standard led replacement bulbs from supercheap and putting a resistor inline to stop error messages. but otherwise these will be fine

Only ones that get pulled up are red amber of blue bulbs facing forward.

underglow lights are legal if they dont flash and the source cant be seen from directly forward of behind, i.e. tuck them away so you only see the glow.

not that i know of. had led bulbs fitted for years. used red ones to get around the fading lens problem.

Totally illegal if used in approved light fitting (headlamps etc). They have to comply to standards, and they don't. The approved bulbs are those listed from the manufacturer for the lamp.

Do you have a law to support that or are you just pulling an opinion out of nowhere?

I doubt the op will be putting number plate or reverse bulbs into a headlight.

You dont need reverse lights for a wof so can be any colour you want pretty much my cars lights all are led apart from headlights high and low beam interior and exterior so much brighter and last a lot longer

yep , law as I practically wrote it for the LTSA (back then). If you change the light source you are modifying an approved lamp so it is a modification. The modification also has to then comply with the standards. Just because people get away with it does not make it legal.

I thought blue bulbs of any sort were illegal because the police use red/blue lights.

I saw a car with blue numberplate lights yesterday, got me wondering.
