Yes audit are now random and basically pass or fail rather than a points based system. You are guaranteed at least one every five years, but allegedly may be mystery shopped in between. I think NZTA are pretty busy right now getting AVI's and OI's signed up to their new Code of Conduct and Quality Management System which even they do not understand! It's all a bit of a race against time for them because every AVI and IO's Certificate of appointment/authority runs out on Feb 28th duh!
