depends on what sort you are referring to. I have a simple little one that plugs into my work trucks cigarette lighter which is 24v volt. It then has a normal 12 volt cigarette socket and also a USB outlet socket. I use it to charge and Iphone, Ipad and to run a wifi printer and a small portable 12 volt cooler fridge thing big enough to put your lunch and a can of drink in.
will really come down to the load you will draw off it and what you are trying to power with it. that will dictate what you need.
Theyre simple plug in ,done. But if you are looking something more perminant to run more load then a hared wired one would be better. Without having seen the one you are talking about.I would imagine that you hard wire to the battery of the truck with fuse. then put the unit where you want it and either plug your stuff into it or hardwire them into it.

you'll find all the instructions with the reducer, fairly simple - live wire from ignition powered through a fuse to the 24+, 24- goes to earth, 12+ goes to whatever ports you want to run, 12- goes to earth ( unless it is wired earth return) then both earth circuits need to join a return wire

Make sure you get a two circuit reducer for ease of installation!

at least a 2 circuit, think the new head unit, phone charging, GPS, even a spotlight for afterdark unexpected issues
