trumptrader, Feb 18, 11:03pm
I just done my class 2 and wanted to know if anyone has gone on and done their class 4 without gaining any experience at class 2 ? trying to decide whether or not its a good idea as I only got a 3 month wait before I can do.

Wait three months pay your money no tests no practical and you have your class 4 L

I am aware of this, I was asking more of the practical side of things. Like actually doing you class 4 full

I got my class 4 no real world driving experience just experience of shifting trucks round yard as I fix trucks. I sat mine in a merc six speed with syncros. So It depends if you want your class 4 and if you are comfortable driving trucks.

It's also the easiest of licenses to obtain class two is much harder in comparison. I backed mine up with dangerous goods, w,t,r and f/lift endorsements

Hi there, most class 4 tests are with a syncro box. They take you through it anyway. It gets interesting when you start driving a Road Ranger box for the first time, learn off more experienced drivers, it is worth while having though, plus your pay rate increases quite a bit. Good luck.

What's the go now?
Class 4 used to mean multiple axles and more weight? Then I was told it was extinct.
I don't know coz I was asked if I had 4 when the cards came out, and I said 'yes' - So I've have it since.

OK you have me interested now, I just picked up the form today from the AA for class2 - whats the hard part? trying to get a heads up on where to go next. Only reason im going for a class2 is im looking at buying a 5 ton payload truck for one of the companies (tipper truck that is) what weight limit does it change to 3/4/5 ? Cheers in advance ;)

gross combined weight of 6000kg or gross laden weight of 6000kg. The hard part for class two is the paperwork if you tare the quick way ie get licence and next day sit full. It unit standards fatigue management plus the driving weights and loading. How hard it is depends on your instructor.

You get alot of the same questions from doing your 2L when sitting your fatigue management, loading and restraints. So I would get your 2L beforehand breeze through unit standards and go for a drive. Which is like driving a car apart from the exhaust brake and air brakes.

Whats a 2L or do you mean class two learner? I may do the 2 day course so get the whole deal in that two days then job done. Only other option is get the learner bit sorted with the medical etc, go sit the scratch card deal at the AA then book a days course for the full. Few options but it would be good to do the whole thing together.

Either way. You can save a little bit of money getting your learners beforehand because you will be paying extra for the training provider to teach you. Look up agoge or passrite you will find prices with and without learners and make up your own mind.

Cheers for that, will take a look and make some calls ;)
