Some times it pays not to ask the question you just know you are not going to like the answer to

gypsypom, Feb 24, 5:06pm
Im sure dog and lemon were paid the payolla from some companies and the ones that didnt pay got a bad wrap

bumfacingdown, Feb 24, 5:08pm
Not many paid then

differentthings, Feb 24, 6:37pm
what type of car did the OP want to buy.

stevo2, Feb 24, 6:59pm
Qashqai.
Decent car with no real issues. If you test drive it and like it, buy it

socram, Feb 24, 7:27pm
I can relate to that. Got paid by two local magazines until they too fell over and most recently, by BMW UK for an article on a specific BMW in NZ. Pays for some magazine subscriptions but doesn't make me any more knowledgeable than anyone else - just opinionated!

socram, Feb 24, 7:35pm
I take a lot of store on previous history kaz, but over recent years, have only bought brand new for daily drivers.
In terms of the K engine, I found out recently that you need to rev them now and again and that an ex Nana car may not be the best buy at all.

as with most visitors that want advice, post once then goooone

rovercitroen, Feb 24, 7:47pm
I used to enjoy Driver magazine. I hear Mr. Dick retired to Oamaru.

I'm still here! Your comments are causing much discussion in this house!

whqqsh, Feb 24, 8:10pm
ah good, sorry about that, many post never to be heard of again.
The thing is some of the best cars many have owned & have great reputations elsewhere get slated by D&L, sure he does pick up on some commonly know faults or stuff that can be attributed to any car but 99% is tripe & personal preference. If everyone followed D&G we'd all be driving Morris Oxfords or Toyota Corollas. which funnily enough he likes

kevlight, Feb 25, 4:47am
agree D @ L is just a grumpy old mans personal opinion ,
. that he likes Toyotas and every thing else must be trash .
.he is not even consistent as some of the vehicles he dislikes are Toyotas just re badged for different Markets/countrys. ignore him he is a Dinosaur !

kevlight, Feb 25, 4:58am
Have a look at the cars you like,, get your local garage man to look at it on his hoist ,,and get him to take it for a run ,yeah actually take the car you are going to buy to a professional to get it checked out. !
A PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION
ha ! how many of us follow our own Advice ?
Buy what you like/want its your money /and you will be the only one who can say "yeah thats my car and i like it ,its a good one !

bumfacingdown, Feb 25, 5:36am
Have you had it serialised to the TMMB exclusively already?

tamarillo, Feb 25, 5:37am
Hehe.

tamarillo, Feb 25, 5:39am
Address? Never paid me final columns.
Auto car sort of bought it and said it incorporated it for a while, though suspect that was more a boardroom thing.

tamarillo, Feb 25, 5:42am
Oh I hold the opinion I'm more knowledgable.

Back to op. I think you've got the hint people who actually know what they're talking about with experience, and those who just think, agree not to listen to Clive Wilson. It's a good car.

bumfacingdown, Feb 25, 5:56am
