Good if true . just a pity the place started off with so much debt due to the actions by spring hill prison & roads board & the auck council pouring mill$ into Puke after it was supposed to be closing for major races , which was the origonal reason to build HD . . Both claims proved unfounded but still cost the the guys an extra $2M . Wise move to retain origonal management & hopefully more racing .

If it does go through - and it probably will, there is no doubt that the club circuit will be built (probably within months, depending on the winter weather) giving the extra track/income and also the ability to run the two combined as an International track.
That means more meetings at HD and a club circuit gives the option for a load more low key events, and if Highlands is anything to go by, you'll soon get the promised Kart track and a museum - which was always planned for the site anyway.
The unfinished pits buildings are not currently owned by HD but the owner is guaranteed an agreed price if the track is sold. The new owner would then finish them with the originally planned hospitality units - which then moves HD well ahead of Pukekohe.
There was always a plan for a control tower between the two sets of pit garages, as currently, race control means hiring an apartment on the opposite side of the track, which is far from ideal and the current timing box is a porta-kabin on stilts.
One or two existing regular hire dates may be lost as higher profile international events are attracted, which can only be good for spectators.
There were always plans for a 'village' with pub, restaurants, shops etc., and even a proper hotel and camping ground.
The initial plans were far reaching but as we all know, $$$$$$ are always required. And there just weren't enough.
TQ is a real enthusiast, a very successful businessman and will no doubt run things his way - which may not suit everyone, but I for one will be very happy if he is the successful buyer, but it would be great if he then went public with his plans for the future.
As I understand it, the deal is for the complete complex meaning the Off Road track and the motor lodge.
General consensus so far from those heavily involved and also just racers, is that this a great step forward. As elect70 says, it could have all been done ages ago.
Highlands Park has a limit of just 16 race days a year I believe and could be considered a sand pit to play in, but TQ brought the very successful Aussie GT series in. The chances are now very high that we will see that series at HD too.
But whatever I have written is just my take on it, as I know no more than anyone else at this stage!
