Sad re Matt / Marcel's class not having the trip. I offered to be a parent helper. What's more sad is the class not having a photo because so many (parents no doubt) didn't want it / pay. I find it hard to believe coming from Hendo valley school. Is this the way things are next door?

People not wanting to pay for the professionals to capture an image of their loved children for them to look back at years later. And the fact a school camp was cancelled due to people being too busy to be parent helpers. Well, that is what I got out of it? Kaz will know the full story.

You've got it. It was just a day trip not a camp though. Apathy and perhaps poverty reign? Kaz's son and our son are in the same class. Apologies for putting it in here but I can't be bothered cycling over there at this time of night!

The photo can be done with a smartphone and sent to everyone electronically for people to do with what they please. I doesn't have to cost anything.

if parents can't afford school fees or to feed their kids I guess its unrealistic to expect them to find more money for a school trip. Then again-its the entirely apathetic way things happen there. or maybe lil kaz is lazy with notices-I didn't get a school notice saying photos were even happening.

Notices usually happen at this time of year. When I walk up to get M from school there are plenty of kids walking back with drinks / rubbish food and hanging around the dairy buying same. I think more apathy than lack of $.

in 99% of kiwi homes its not even apathy, its the belief that at 8.30 they leave, and they're home again when I get home at 5.30, for the intervening time they are the property and responsibility of the school, so don't bother asking me to contribute time or money - not my problem!
