Have just purchased a new vehicle which will be used for work and play. Will be used on the beach for fishing/kayaking as well. Would you recommend having it undersealed? Are panelbeaters the best best to do this?

Just be aware sometimes under seal traps water too, causing problems of its own. if you were wanting rustproofing, the old tried and true Fishoil is pretty unbeatable, and creeps into every crack, can get deodorised stuff nowadays. Would do it in summer so it dries quicker. Will have the neighbourhood cats masturbating under the car for a week but the smell does dissapear. Maybe todays under seal is better though? Bound to be some pretty tough spray on product nowadays.

A good idea regardless of whether it's undersealed or not is put a couple of good strong oscillating garden sprinklers under it for an hour or two when you get home after each trip.

Here's an underseal job I done a while back. It cost about $900 + GST .
This is the same stuff I use. Interested to know what you actually think about it GMPHIL?

$900 is a bit steep, Easily done in a day with about $150 worth of products. Most panel shops will be cheaper

Dinitrol make brilliant undersealing product 4941/car. Will stick to anything under a car or truck, with the added benefit of being anti corrosion as well as self healing. The brown version is used by the european army. You panel shops out there should have a good look at the dinitrol range excellent products and very well priced.

This was for a brand new Triton that hadn't even been delivered to it's owner yet.
Check my link and you'll see what I had to do. The photo's don't even show half the masking involved, and the R&R of all the plastic shrouds etc to access the entire ladder chassis and under body.
Ya reckon? as you said a day to do it. 8 x $70 an hour then your $150 materials and then GST. It gets close to $900 pretty quick. And thats one guy going for it.

POR 15 rustproof paint is popular . Get it into every nook & cranny as beach sand gets in everywhere . Get it into inside doors , engine bay , battery box . Just washing car doesnt get it all , believe me I lve at the beach & use vehicle on it all fishing & whitebaiting seasons . It eats away real quick even vehicles that were " undersealed "from new .
