Right hand rule

tub4, Jul 13, 7:40am
Come across two sets of traffic lights that weren't working and were flashing amber and it seemed almost nobody had a clue what to do.
I was always told to treat it like a roundabout and use the right hand rule. Is this right?

yes or in auckland close eyes and drive

I seem to remember the standard give way rules are supposed to apply, but in reality it turns into a huge snarl up with much indecision, gesticulating, flashing of lights etc, with nobody quite sure who's turn it is lol! Can be quite funny to watch!

Red car goes first. Does no one look at the Rose Code?

It seemed a bit prickly - but smelled nice!

Just how it was here and I couldn't understand why, assuming everyone was licensed to drive yet didn't have a clue what to do

There's a x-road just by the mill at Tokoroa, and it has a Giveway at every approach, which in a sense turns it into a roundabout without a roundy thing in the middle.

Guess if everyone had enough sense to treat what tub explained in the same way, it would all pan out OK.
But that ain't gunna work is it!

I think that was your mistake.

Then again. like all of the population, not all testers (if they were even tested) are created equal, nor are instructors, especially if the instructors were parents / friends or even play station.

The biggest vehicle goes first.

Easy - just remember the Auckland road rules rhyme:
"Big S.U.V. goes before me"
