Only 18 cars on the grid for race one, is F1 choking itself to death?

nightboss, Mar 12, 11:51am
Correction, 20 cars.

Marussia has announced Will Stevens (GBR) and Robert Merhi (ESP) as starters for Australian GP

tamarillo, Mar 12, 11:55am
Really looking forward to it! Despite all the crap and often complete lack of overtakes, I still love it all.

twink19, Mar 12, 12:27pm
Prius racing, was there last year, working in pit lane, no where near as good as it used to be

serf407, Mar 12, 12:38pm
The sparks era was a good era for F1

4 Kiwis in the Supercars this weekend. Giz, Coulthard, and Scott Mc and Chris Pither in the Volvos.

bill-robinson, Mar 12, 1:19pm
well that is 2 boring races this weekend. what else is bernie allowing to race?

tamarillo, Mar 12, 1:34pm
Actually the v8s are more tempting than F1 maybe.

nightboss, Mar 12, 6:09pm
Oh dear, are you having another of your grumpy days?

Other classes of racing are

Porsche Carrera Cup
http://www.grandprix.com.au/event/on-track/porsche-carrera-cup Penrite Oil Heritage Touring Cars http://www.grandprix.com.au/event/on-track/penrite-oil-heritage-touring-cars

And demonstrations etc.

But that does not matter to someone that would rather grumble that attend.

I'll be at Hampton Downs Saturday for the Roycroft Trophy meeting for vintage cars - or at least, pre 1960 cars.

Still record every F1 race but generally, fast forward much of it, which is a shame, as the commentary is usually pretty good.

Sadly, it isn't as interesting as it was pre 1970, but nor are most modern cars! May watch some of the Aussie V8's but there is a limit to how much time you can spend watching.

gammelvind, Mar 12, 6:45pm
Yay F1 is back, time to get Sky Sport turned back on. It'll be interesting to see how Honda work for Mclaren this time round, if Kimi can get back to his old form, can Lewis and Nico play nice (lol) etc etc.

serf407, Mar 13, 7:53am
I can't see the V8s listed on the tv guide. Is this another F1 tv lock down on the support events?

purple666, Mar 13, 8:23am
I don't bother with tv these days, there is this new thing out there called the Internet and it is brilliant for watching anything your heart desires.

twink19, Mar 13, 10:22am
Fox are showing all V8 races

tamarillo, Mar 13, 12:39pm
sky bought v8's.
If you really want it and don't do sky you can buy a season pass at official website, but you need a way of tricking it into thinking you are anywhere but nz as won't allow us. I got hola (free and seems kosha) and bought sub with nz credit car and English address of relative. Hola runs with Google chrome browser and let's me choose where I want to pretend to be.
Not willing to sign up to sky and then sky sports just for little bit of motor racing.

If you're with Slingshot, they offer free Global Mode for situations described by tamarillo.

Global Mode lets you visit a range of sites that are normally blocked to people from New Zealand.

More than two dozen of the world??

tamarillo, Mar 13, 7:28pm
I'm with orcon who says it global mode. But couldn't get v8 untill I loaded hola, which confused me.

purple666, Mar 13, 7:37pm
Use Firefox with Media Hint addon and you can watch and/or join whatever you want.

littlerae1, Mar 13, 8:38pm
Oh cool! I didn't know about Media Hint addon. Thanks. Will pass this info on.

craigs_workshop, Mar 14, 3:43pm
you watch F1 for the most hyper-developed tarmac cars mankind makes

not the racing

"the best drivers in the world are in F1" which will only ever be true when the worlds entire stock of people are allowed to develop their single seater skills

its always been the alpha money playpen

ryanm2, Mar 14, 5:02pm
or, like everyone else, use Hola.

gammelvind, Apr 30, 9:50pm
Ok how can you watch F1 with a decent commentary online?
